Partners offer simple RVSM for Gulfstreams
Honeywell and Garrett Aviation Services have entered into a business agreement to offer an RVSM solution for Gulfstream II and IIB operators. Designed to provide a simple yet effective solution for RVSM compliance, Honeywell says the package includes air data computer updates, new altitude indicators and altitude alerter that meet the strict requirements for RVSM operations.

Honeywell and Garrett Aviation Services have entered into a business agreement to offer an RVSM solution for Gulfstream II and IIB operators. Designed to provide a simple yet effective solution for RVSM compliance, Honeywell says the package includes air data computer updates, new altitude indicators and altitude alerter that meet the strict requirements for RVSM operations.\rUnder the arrangement, Honey-well takes on responsibility for the technical development of these new products to meet RVSM compliance for the GII and GIIB aircraft. In return, Garrett Aviation will provide installation integration and will own the Supplemental Type Certificate. In addition, Garrett will be responsible for obtaining RVSM certification and approvals.\rHoneywell says the package is scheduled to enter into operation in 2000 and will include: \r* Dual AZ-960 Digital Air Data Computers (DADC), dual BA-250 altitude indicators and an AL-801 altitude alerter designed specifically for the Gulfstream II/B application\r* Low impact installation using existing pitot-static sources and plumbing\r* New solid state sensor package in the AZ-960\r* Fully coupled autopilot (SP-50G or SPZ-800\r* RVSM group approval through Garrett's RVSM Operator Assistance Programme.\rGarrett will offer GII / GIIB operators its RVSM Operator Approval Programme to simplify the RVSM certification and approval process. Under the programme, Garrett performs airframe inspection and modifications, and provides the documentation to satisfy federal LOA requirements to operate in RVSM airspace. Mike Anderson, director of avionics for Garrett Aviation Services, said: "Our package allows operators the option of upgrading to Honeywell's new Primus Epic CDS flight display, which positions them for potential CNS/ATM requirements changes." \rGary Kivela, vice president of engineering at Honeywell, said: "We believe that the AZ-960 will provide GII / GIIB operators with the lowest risk and best value solution to meet RVSM requirements.
