Press Release

Airbus forecasts a market for around five large corporate jets a year in Asia-Pacific - the majority of them in greater ChinaMark – to replace existing aircraft and, most importantly, to provide for growth. With the world's most modern corporate jet family, it is well placed to win at least half of this market
China's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is forecast to grow at more than 8 per cent a year and, because economic growth is the main driver of air-travel, this means that there is an important and expanding market for corporate jets in the country, as well as throughout the region.
Asia-Pacific is an important market for large corporate jets – aircraft seating 15 or more passengers – with private customers, companies and governments in the region currently operating almost 150 of them.
"Airbus corporate jets have already won around 25 sales in Asia-Pacific, the vast majority of them in greater China, and, with the much larger and more comfortable cabin, they are well placed to grow their presence in the region," points out Airbus Chief Operating Officer, Customers, John Leahy. "We have the most modern aircraft family, and customers like that, because they get a new and up-to-date product that gives them more, as well as one that will hold its value well over time," he adds.
Chinese customers and operators of Airbus corporate jets include Air China Business Jets, BAA Jet Management Ltd, China Sonangol, Deer Air, plus undisclosed entities.
Most private jet customers are looking to extend into the air the comfort and space that they already enjoy at home or in the office and, with wider, taller cabins than competing aircraft, Airbus aircraft are the new top-end of the business jet market. One advantage of the Airbus corporate jet's wider cabin is that it can offer a large circular table that allows up to six people to work, dine or join in a game,
Space and comfort become increasingly important on longer ranges, because passengers spend so much more time on board, and because they are much more likely to want to get up and move around the cabin – something that is difficult to do in the cramped cabins of traditional business jets. This makes Airbus corporate jets well suited to the Asia-Pacific market, where large distances separate most cities.
Airbus' corporate jet Family comprises the A318 Elite, Airbus Corporate Jetliner (ACJ) and A320 Prestige, which can fly nonstop within most of Asia, plus the widebody A330, A340, A350 and A380 Prestige with "nonstop to the world" range. It gives customers the comfort that they want, in the size that they need.
More than 160 Airbus corporate jets have been sold to date – over 100 of the A318 Elite, ACJ and A320 Prestige – plus around 50 VIP and government widebodies. Airbus corporate jets are flying on every continent, including Antarctica, making them the world's most widely used business aircraft.
