AeroTEC is celebrating 15 successful years of growth this week at NBAA with several public celebrations.

AeroTEC has come a long way since 2003 to become a world leader in engineering and test services tailored to aircraft development, testing and regulatory certification. Over the years AeroTEC has supported over 100 major programmes including pax to cargo modifications, winglet retrofits, special missions aircraft, re-engine programmes, Wi-Fi installations and wind tunnel tests. AeroTEC is actively supporting over 15 projects including three clean sheet aircraft TC programmes of which one includes the Mitsubishi Regional Jet.

“We've opened a new market and way of thinking around aerospace development,” says AeroTEC president and CEO Lee Human. “In the past aircraft OEMs had to build and maintain large overhead departments to service the cyclical nature of product development and certification. That legacy model is expensive, and we provide a more efficient option."

“Now AeroTEC provides on demand, ready to go, technical support services,” Human continued. “Our customers can now right size their organisations to support core needs and call us in to help with the heavy lifting of new development programmes.”

Customers can now leverage AeroTEC's advanced test facilities, processes, tools and experienced staff to reduce schedule, cost and avoid ramp up/down staffing issues.

“When we meet with companies we're finding they have projects they want to complete but can't either because of resource constraints or internal costs that kill the business case. We're solving both of those problems for our clients.”

AeroTEC's services are highly scalable to remain competitive for STC programmes that need smaller, more nimble teams. Airlines, Tier 1 suppliers and modification centres large and small are all AeroTEC customers and are benefiting from plug-in technical services.

“We're enabling Tier 1 suppliers to obtain new and upgraded product certification rapidly on platforms they support. With an STC in hand Tier 1s can sell direct to the operators or accelerate introduction onto the production line at the OEMs. We're opening the door for STC designers and special missions customers to get it done by leveraging our team and capability.”

Due to growing demand for testing and certification services, AeroTEC has boosted investment to expand its facilities and vertical service offerings. In 2018 AeroTEC increased hangar space at its state-of-the-art flight test centre in Moses Lake, Washington, from 68,000 sq ft to over 100,000 sq ft, and received FAA approval for a Part 145 repair station certificate.

AeroTEC is staying one step ahead of the market by investing in facilities, tools and people to execute programmes for emerging technologies such as electric, supersonic and autonomous commercial and business aircraft.

“Our industry is changing so rapidly,” Human said, “with technologies suggested only a year or two ago now in full development and in need of engineering, testing and certification. We are committed and equipped to bringing innovative designs to reality. It's an exciting time to be in this business. The fact that we are currently supporting three new Part 25 airplane programmes along with our other regular business is very exciting and speaks well for our future. I can't wait to see where the next 15 years will take us.”
