May 28, 2009
Air Alliance, one of the leading Cessna Service Centers in Europe, signed on as a fully authorized Blackhawk Distributor and Installation Center and has agreed to purchase three new Pratt & Whitney PT6A-42A engines for the Grand Caravan 208 series. The pact was signed at the European Business Aviation Conference and Expo (EBACE) between Blackhawk, the world-wide leader in turboprop engine upgrades, and German-based Air Alliance.
Jim Allmon, President and CEO of Blackhawk Modifications said, "We are pleased that Air Alliance recognizes the value involved with upgrading engines which is particularly true for the Caravan fleet. Blackhawk's revolutionary model of upgrading engines rather than overhauling continues to expand flexibility for European operators due to the sizable performance improvement."
"Air Alliance has an excellent reputation in Germany and in all of Europe. We are honored to have them as the first customers to buy and install the PT6A-42A engines."
The new XP42A engine option with 850 continuous SHP will offer a much needed boost in takeoff, climb and cruise performance for the current 675 SHP PT6A-114A that powers the Grand Caravan. Certification of the PT6A-42A is expected in the fourth quarter this year, with deliveries beginning shortly after. The upgrade will yield a 4% increase in gross take-off weight, a 15% increase in cruise speed and a cut in time-to-climb and fuel burn from sea level to 12,000 ft by as much as six minutes and three gallons, respectively.
Founded in 1993, Air Alliance occupies outstanding positions on their markets with operational segments of aircraft maintenance and sales, air operation and flight school Air Alliance features a major portfolio of one-stop shopping for all its services: regular servicing, planning and designing interiors, avionic re-engineering as well as purchasing and selling new and used aircraft. They also offer business jet carter.
"We're excited to join Air Alliance in providing European operators with the red-hot performance that the XP42A will bring to the Cessna Caravan," said Allmon. "Whether your Caravan needs to take off from remote runways or a major airport, the factory-new Pratt & Whitney engines will take you where your business needs to go.
