Press Release
Issued by Air Alliance.
February 21, 2018
On February 20, 2018 Air Alliance delivered a Cessna 208B Caravan to its owner, after successful installation of the first Blackhawk XP140 Engine+ upgrade.
Angela Hickling, the owner of British Parachute School in Langar, UK has been a satisfied Air Alliance customer for more than 20 years. She was very excited to get her aircraft back after only two and a half weeks downtime.
In the coming season, the aircraft will be used for parachuting operations with considerably improved performance.
The Blackhawk XP140 Engine+ upgrade (EASA STC10057646) is available for the Cessna Caravan 208 and 208B. As part of the upgrade the existing Pratt & Whitney PT6A-114/114A (600/675 SHP) turbine is replaced by a PT6A-140 (867SHP) turbine, resulting in considerably improved performance data (shorter take-off distance, better climb performance, etc.).
At the same time, the conversion is easier compared to those offered by other suppliers because the existing cowling, engine mount and exhaust system can be retained, saving money and time. Due to the EASA certification of the five-blade MT Propeller (MTV-27) for the Blackhawk conversion, which is planned for 2018, and as a consequence thereof its compliance with noise regulations and the increase of the TBO of the engine to 4,000 hours, the Blackhawk XP140 Engine+ upgrade will be an interesting option for operators in Germany as well.
