Woodgate Aviation adds tanker to vehicle fleet

Woodgate Aviation, which provides aircraft charter, aircraft maintenance and re-fuelling from Belfast International Airport, has added a fuel tanker to its ground fleet of vehicles to help give it the edge over the competition.

The purchase of the 18,000 litre vehicle followed an exclusive fuel agreement signed with global supplier, Avfuel, earlier in the year. The arrangement means Jet A1 fuel can be provided at competitive rates, which means significant savings for customers.

Woodgate Aviation is also the sole supplier of Avgas at Belfast International Airport.

Earlier this year, the company, which is forty-seven years in business, greatly expanded its business with the opening of a 33,000 sq ft hangar which sports the widest hydraulic doors in Europe.

Woodgate general manager, David Shaw, says the tanker is a game-changer. He said: “The tanker completes the set for us. Its capacity to hold 18,000 litres of Jet A1 fuel means we can offer a cost-saving and time-saving advantage to the customer. We can re-fuel on site, avoiding expensive re-location costs to the former re-fuelling site at the other side of the airfield, and the price is the best there is.

“We are working with Avfuel to ensure we offer the most competitive price for our customers. Re-fuelling and aircraft handling are big parts of our business and this will consolidate our position as market leader not only in Northern Ireland, but in the island of Ireland as a whole.

“We also carry out aircraft maintenance and provide hangarage for private jets and props. Right now, our hangar is operating close to capacity and we have plans to expand at the site to meet rising demand.

“The tanker is a statement of intent of where we see Woodgate progressing, providing all aircraft services in house. We have a positive view of immediate prospects and are planning for increased business in the next few years as we approach our fiftieth anniversary in business.”
