RUAG completes first EASA-approved installation of Cobham AVIATOR 200 on Pilatus PC-12

RUAG Aviation has successfully completed the first installation of the Cobham AVIATOR 200 satcom on the Pilatus PC-12, in line with European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) standards. The communications solution, featuring complete office-in-the-sky functionality, was installed at the RUAG site in Geneva, Switzerland, holder of the exclusive rights to Pro Star Aviation’s EASA STC for this model of aircraft.

Clark Gordon, Pro Star Aviation director of sales, commented: “We are pleased to offer the STC in collaboration with our European partner RUAG Aviation. The AVIATOR 200 is an excellent broadband and voice solution and is ideal for Pilatus PC-12 operators looking to add the convenience of in-flight broadband access.” Pro Star Aviation, based in Manchester Boston Regional Airport, owns the supplemental type certificate (STC) for the AVIATOR 200 and grants RUAG Aviation exclusive rights to offer the STC on the Pilatus PC-12 aircraft throughout Europe.

Developed by British-based manufacturer Cobham, the AVIATOR 200 satcom is an ultra-compact, lightweight broadband solution allowing reliable, affordable connectivity for business jets. Its built-in router and Wi-Fi capability enable aircraft operators to offer complete office-in-the-sky functionality, including in-flight e-mail, Internet browsing, connectivity for smartphones, tablets and laptops, and one high-quality, low-cost AMBE2 voice channel. Multiple users can access the system at speeds of up to 200 kilobytes per second.

“Our aircraft was delivered on time, as promised, and we are fully satisfied with the new system’s capabilities and performance. We are also very happy with RUAG Aviation’s services for maintenance and upgrades on our aircraft,” said chief pilot of Eurojet Holding.

“This latest achievement underscores our dedication to our business aircraft customers as we continuously strive to offer the latest in technology to enhance comfort and relaxation on board their aircraft,” states Volker Wallrodt, senior vice president business jets, Dornier 228 and components. “Through our sophisticated partnership network with leaders in business aviation and their established experience in the industry, RUAG is reinforcing its comprehensive business aviation portfolio and continues to ensure service excellence by focusing on individual needs and providing personalised solutions.”
