Disruptive Finnish airline Go! Aviation has received its air operator's certificate (AOC) and operating license (OL) from the Finnish authorities.
The company has built its managerial and all mandatory regulatory functions in Espoo. Its aircraft operation will be governed by the Finnish authorities. The transfer of the first Pilatus PC-12 aircraft to the new AOC has been completed. This took place in conjunction with a scheduled maintenance on the aircraft. Further aircraft will be transferred gradually. Go! Aviation Ltd is the only carbon neutral airline in Europe.
“Our team has done an amazing job during the last year. The dedication and professionalism of our entire team is what made this possible”, says the company's co-founder and head of operations Roope Kekäläinen.
Go! Aviation is the first European airline to introduce commercial passenger transport using single engine aircraft. The Go Fly! travel concept, developed by the company, is based on membership and a fixed monthly fee, answering the growing need for quick, cost-efficient business travel on specific routes. The routes are tailored according to the customers' specific needs, flown to and from the closest possible airfields. This typically yields timesavings in the magnitude of an entire workday on a single trip.
Go! Aviation plans to take full advantage of its head start in the emerging European single-engine passenger flight market, and quickly expand its operations to central Europe, where the business potential is massive. Go! Aviation will deploy a fleet of four to six Pilatus PC-12 aircraft during 2016. By 2025 the company aims to operate a fleet of 50 aircraft and be the market leader in Europe.
In January 2016, Go! Aviation successfully closed their first funding round to ensure the start of operations. “We are now actively seeking additional funding from the European financial market to finance our rapid expansion” says the company's co-founder and ceo Jorma Kario. "We aim to find the right partners to ensure our position as the leading European operator in our segment " concludes Kario.
