FlightSafety receives FAA Level D qualification for Vital X Visual System equipped with LCOS high-definition projectors

FlightSafety International has received Level D qualification from the Federal Aviation Administration for the company's first VITAL X visual system equipped with Liquid Crystal on Silicon (LCoS) High-Definition projectors.

The new VITAL X visual system is installed on an Embraer ERJ 145 aircraft simulator located at FlightSafety's Training Center in Saint Louis, Missouri. The simulator was originally equipped with FlightSafety's VITAL 9 visual system.

VITAL X features the latest COTS PC technology combining high performance computers with advanced graphics processors. FlightSafety's latest visual simulation technology offers a Global Synthetic Natural Environment world database of geo-specific satellite imagery allowing worldwide continuous flight. The system supports hundreds of six Degree of Freedom fully articulated moving models, 3D sea states, physics-based MultiVis atmospheric weather and sensor effects, and shaders to enhance training realism. The VITAL X COTS PC-based image generator can support hundreds of thousands of fully processed scene elements per channel.

FlightSafety's VITAL X visual system equipped with COTS HD Projectors is a highly cost effective solution for current and future visual applications as well as upgrades of existing training devices. The visual system has been delivered and integrated with a variety of cost effective COTS HD projector lines as well as with the FlightSafety Skylight Projectors.
