Piper Aircraft recently received European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) approval for Piper Seminoles and Archers equipped at the factory with Garmin G1000 avionics and the Aspen Avionics EFD1000 Pro Standby primary flight display.
"The Aspen Evolution EFD l000 is proving to be a popular option in the United States for Piper's Training Class aircraft and with additional approval of the system for the 32 EASA member states, we can offer the system to even more flight training programs," said Piper president and ceo Simon Caldecott.
Piper Aircraft is the first OEM to install the Aspen EDF 1000 as a standby system. The Aspen EFD1000 Pro Standby backs up the G1000 with a digital display that makes the transition from primary to backup instruments seamless compared to round gauges.
The Piper Seminole, with standard G1000 avionics, is an advanced training aircraft with proven reliability in more than 20 years of service and hundreds of thousands of hours in flight school environments throughout the world. Students admire the airplane for its ability to perform advanced flight training maneuvers and procedures. Instructors appreciate the Piper Seminole as a safe and forgiving multi engine learning platform. Flight school owners appreciate the Piper Seminole's reliability and easy to maintain all metal airframe. The Seminole is a twin-engine piston powered aircraft that seats four and is powered by two Lycoming L/O -360-A1H6 each generating 180 hp.
