San Marino teams with Rimini International Airport to develop business aviation hub

The San Marino Minister of Industry, Handicraft and Trade, Marco Arzilli, who is also responsible for Transport, and the Italian Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Maurizio Lupi, have signed an official act of entrustment under which some designated areas of the International Airport of Rimini-San Marino are entrusted to the state of San Marino for the next 40 years.

The objective is to make San Marino a business and commercial aviation center of excellence.

The two Ministers are convinced that the agreement on Rimini airport is a good example of effective cooperation between the two countries. The conclusion of such agreement is the final step in the process and the result of the hard work by both Ministries. The agreement marks a starting point for San Marino in that it allows for future development of the state's economy and the provision of a portfolio of new business opportunities at Rimini airport.

The goal of the San Marino Ministry of Industry is the development of new projects in the entrusted areas, as well as to find and consider highly professional partners for future projects. These can include an FBO terminal, a business jet maintenance centre, a business jet interior outfitting centre, a cargo centre, hangars and management of these activities.

Speaking about the agreement Marco Arzilli said “This is just the start, I'm sure that with the continued collaboration of everyone, starting with our government continuing to enact laws, regulations and agreements that are pro-aviation/pro-business, the economic situation in San Marino will once again become a vibrant and strong, cost effective alternative to other centres.”

The San Marino Aircraft Registry are exhibiting for the first time at the 2013 Dubai Airshow - Chalet B14.
