RUAG Aviation has delivered a unique one-stop-shop solution for a Dassault Falcon 7X customer, in a project that embodies its “Together Ahead” spirit. By combining the painting and interior know-how of its Munich-Oberpfaffenhofen facility with the MRO expertise of its Geneva site, the company was able to efficiently fulfil all the customer's requirements in a single downtime.
The project took place at RUAG Aviation's business aviation facility in Munich-Oberpfaffenhofen, Germany. During a complete repainting of the entire aircraft, the cabin was overhauled by the company's interior specialists. “The customer was impressed by the flexibility of the interior project team, and the professional application of the complex exterior striping design,” says Carsten Matthiesen, director of exterior and interior services at RUAG Aviation in Munich-Oberpfaffenhofen (OP). “As a result, they are contemplating having us repaint their Gulfstream IV as well, in a similar design.”
Basic aircraft maintenance services were performed alongside the interior installation, thus maximising productivity without increasing the aircraft's downtime. RUAG Aviation's facility in Geneva, Switzerland, provided both the logistics and technical support, in addition to seconding a senior engineer to supervise the project in OP.
“Combining the specialties and resources of various sites allows us to provide multiple solutions from a single source. This one-stop-shop capability is an advantage greatly valued by our customers,” says Bernd Heinrich, general manager of RUAG Aviation's Geneva site. “In fact, the customer has already approached us about performing an EASy II cockpit upgrade for his 7X at our site in Geneva.”
