Advanced EVS for commercial jet market leads Rockwell Collins highlights at NBAA 2013

At this year's National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) Annual Meeting and Convention in Las Vegas, Rockwell Collins plans to demonstrate the most advanced and highest fidelity enhanced vision system available for the commercial aviation market segment.

The recently announced EVS-3000 uses a proprietary multi-spectral sensor developed by Rockwell Collins to significantly improve the detection of outside terrain, hazards and obstacles in low-visibility weather conditions such as fog. In addition, the EVS-3000 brings an industry-first capability to fully detect LED runway lighting, which is being installed at many airports worldwide.

“The EVS-3000 provides a winning combination—improved situational awareness for pilots and reduced size and energy consumption for aircraft owners,” Scott Gunnufson, vice president of sales, marketing and support, commercial systems. “We're excited to once again be able to push the boundaries of situational awareness in the business jet market, while at the same time enhancing reliability and lowering ownership costs.”

Rockwell Collins will be announcing more details about the EVS-3000, as well as new customer wins, cabin products and flight service solutions at a press conference to be held on Monday.

Exhibit highlights include:

• Pro Line Fusion® — Pro Line Fusion offers unmatched breadth and capabilities that span the business aircraft spectrum. The system integrates and displays essential flight information through graphically rich interfaces, including high-integrity head-up guidance featuring synthetic and enhanced vision and the industry's first touch-screen flight displays, which earned Rockwell Collins the 'Innovator of the Year' Award from Flight International as well as the 'Editors' Choice Award' from Flying Magazine.

• Head-up Guidance System (HGS™) — Rockwell Collins leads the commercial head-up display market segment. By effectively eliminating the need for pilots to continually transition from head-down instruments to head-up, out-the-window view during critical phases of flight, HGS provides enhanced situational awareness and energy management in VFR and IFR flight conditions. With eyes focused in front of the aircraft viewing the presentation of flight path, flight path acceleration, visual glideslope angle and the runway aim point, pilots can achieve greater precision and situational awareness during the approach.

• Pro Line 21™ — Rockwell Collins offers a family of flexible Pro Line 21 avionics solutions to address a wide range of aircraft and missions. From light turboprops to long-range business jets, Pro Line 21 provides flexibility in the flight deck configuration and flight display formatting. Pro Line 21 systems are flying on aircraft delivered from the factory and also available as aftermarket upgrades. The latest version of our Pro Line 21 system includes integrated flight information system (IFIS) with XM satellite weather (available in North America) global weather via datalink, synthetic vision and other new features.

• The Airshow iPad app is now available with a simple system upgrade from a Rockwell Collins authorized dealer to give existing Airshow 4000 or Venue customers the benefits of our 30 years of moving map expertise on the iPad. Highlights include:

◦ An industry-first panoramic view that allows passengers to see a moving map of the outside world from any direction the iPad is pointed exactly as if the aircraft were transparent.

◦ Intuitive, touch-enabled interaction with multiple maps and information displays and the ability to control the Airshow ticker, which scrolls key information related to the flight such as estimated time of arrival.
