Press Release
Issued by Oryx Jet.
May 14, 2012
Oryx Jet, the Biggin Hill based aircraft management and charter company, has recently joined an elite group of UK AOC holders after gaining Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) Approval from the CAA for use on its Hawker 900XP aircraft.
EFB is the new way forward in flight deck management for aircraft operators. EFB systems are a new paperless system on the flight deck, powered by the iPad. The key benefits of EFB approval include:
• Electronic Display providing the Pilot's with Situational Awareness both in the air and on the ground;
• A reduction in weight as paper charts are no longer required to be carried on the aircraft;
• A cost saving to the company as the paper charts subscription is no longer necessary;
• A reduction in man hours.
The award of the EFB approval follows 18 months of work by Oryx Jet's operations team and chief pilot, and Oryx Jet is one of the first UK AOC holders to achieve this approval.
Rod Boath, Chief Pilot for Oryx Jet commented "Our EFB approval demonstrates Oryx Jet's commitment to innovation and maintaining a competitive edge in the executive jet business. At Oryx Jet we are committed to providing a cutting edge service to our customers, whether they be on our own fleet of aircraft or those which we manage.
Considerable time, effort and dedication have been spent during the past 18 months in providing the necessary documentation as well as research material and ensuring this information met with the requirements of our National Authority. We are delighted with this latest achievement and we now join a "unique club" of operators in the UK that can fly with a paperless cockpit".
