Solomon Airlines' Twin Otter refurbishment complete

Solomon Airlines last week completed refurbishment works on one of its Twin Otter aircrafts under the company's refurbishment and maintenance programme. H4-SID is the second Twin Otter aircraft to undergo refurbishment in the last 6 months and follows H4-NNP which was completed in Quarter 4 last year.

H4-SID resumed commercial operations last Friday, the 27th of May 2011 after a 6 week full refurbishment programme which included stripping the aircraft bare (inside and out) and the application of aluminium flooring in the cabin and the cargo holds as well as the new look Flysolomons livery, which is consistent with all the Solomon Airline aircrafts including the A320 to be soon added to the fleet.

General Manager Operations & Commercial Services indicated that "the workmanship and attention to detail demonstrated by our engineering team in undertaking this project has been certainly impressive and something that we are proud of, especially given that this was done here in our very own hangar and with our very own local resources".

In the next 2 months we will be putting our Islander in for refurbishment and will basically be out for between 4-6 weeks. We are working towards rebranding our entire fleet and once the Islander is completed, this will only leave our new Dash 8 to be branded once we have secured this aircraft to the fleet. Hopefully, this will be added by November this year flying the country in our new look Flysolomons colors.
