April 5, 2011
Raisbeck Engineering, designer and manufacturer of the world's leading aircraft improvements for four decades, is celebrating a major milestone with the 3,000th Beechcraft King Air to be equipped with Raisbeck Performance Systems.
Hawker Pacific, headquartered in Sydney, Australia, installed the systems this past January. There is at least one Raisbeck System on 50 percent of the 6,000 King Airs in operation. This King Air B200C is BL166 has had an EPIC PLATINUM™ package installed. The package included Hartzell/Raisbeck Power Props, Ram Air Recovery System, Enhanced Performance Leading Edges, Dual Aft Body Strakes, High Floatation Gear Doors and Crown Wing Lockers.
The aircraft is owned and operated by the Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia, and is the 31st RFDS King Air to have Raisbeck's Performance Systems installed. Hawker Pacific will complete two more RFDS King Air B200C's, BL167 and BL168 with their Raisbeck Epic Platinum installations by the end of June.
"Hawker Pacific has been a partner of Raisbeck Engineering for 19 years and it is the one of the best products we can offer to our King Air customers. The Royal Flying Doctor Service relies on their King Airs to save lives and Raisbeck products ensure that mission. We are very proud to be a part of the major milestone of the 3,000th King Air to fly with Raisbeck systems, and even more happy that it was on a medical mission King Air for Australia," said Alan Smith, CEO of Hawker Pacific.
This major milestone is the culmination of a number of Raisbeck innovations:
• 1982 - Introduction of Raisbeck Performance Systems for the King Air 200 Series
• 1985 - FAA Certification of Hartzell/Raisbeck Quiet Turbofan Power Props (increased performance, reduced noise)
• 1986 - FAA Certification of Raisbeck Performance Systems and Gross Weight Increase for the King Air 90 Series
• 1987 - First installation of Raisbeck Wing Lockers (external storage of baggage and cargo)
• 1990 - EPIC PLATINUM Aircraft Flight Manual Supplement certified - FAA Certification of Raisbeck's EPIC PLATINUM Performance Systems for the King Air 200 Series
• 1996 - Bombardier adds Raisbeck Aft Fuselage Locker to the Learjet 31 production line as standard equipment
• 2001 - Raisbeck Dual Aft Body Strakes become standard equipment on the Beechcraft King Air 350 production line.
• 2004 - Raisbeck Wing Lockers are added as standard equipment on King Air 350 production line
• 2004 - Raisbeck ZR LITE System for Learjets received FAA Certification
• 2006 - Raisbeck ZR LITE System for Learjets received EASA Certification
• 2011 - Raisbeck Ram Air Recovery System installed as standard equipment on every King Air 250 during production
"In the three decades since we introduced our products to the King Air market, the economics and productivity of our systems have demonstrated such impressive results that they continue to advance within the fleet," said James Raisbeck, CEO of Raisbeck Engineering. "People who fly with Raisbeck realize that it makes their great airplane better. These systems have demonstrated for years that they save on fuel, increase cruise speeds, and open up thousands of airports that operators couldn't even consider using before installing.
"Moreover, Raisbeck Systems have been offered as standard or optional equipment on new King Airs coming off the HBC production line since 2001. Even the world's military services are starting to standardize on our products for Special Missions aircraft. The fact that there's never been an Airworthiness Directive on Raisbeck systems, certainly contributes to the decision to upgrade."
Today the Hawker Beechcraft Company offers all Raisbeck EPIC Performance Packages and individual systems as factory options for all models in production. The Ram Air Recovery System is standard equipment on the new King Air 250. Dual Aft Body Strakes and Wing Lockers are standard equipment on all King Air 350s. Integrators such as L3 have made the High Flotation Gear Doors standard equipment on all King Air 350ER Special Missions aircraft for the world's air forces.
