Synergy Aviation's Managing Director; Captain Glen Heavens recently made a novel landing – on to a polo field - in a Piper Warrior trainer aircraft to raise money for local charity Children with Special Needs Foundation.
Private Aircraft Charter Company, Synergy Aviation donated a flying lesson from its flying school, Fairoaks Flight Centre (located near Woking in Surrey) which was raffled after the final of the Smatt's International Eduardo Moore Polo tournament, raising £178. Synergy's management team topped the total to £250 and the winning ticket went to an enthusiastic amateur pilot.
More than 200 guests were present for the popular polo fixture at the Royal County of Berkshire Polo Club event in Windsor, sponsored by Smatt's Rum. The Caribbean themed event included rum cocktails and a Jamaican barbeque lunch. Dragon's Den star, Levi Roots, creator of 'Reggae Reggae' cooking sauce, welcomed the arrival of Captain Heavens' aircraft, which delivered boxes of Smatt's Rum to complement the barbeque.
The 'Children with Special Needs Foundation,' Synergy's preferred local charity, was established in 1995 by Gordon and Ann Parris with the sole purpose of helping children with special needs in the Surrey, Hampshire and Berkshire region. From the money raised so far they have been able to help hundreds of children and their families, in many cases as individuals or collectively, through their schools or other charitable organisations. The charity boasts a handsome list of celebrity patrons including Gary Lineker OBE, Tom O'Connor and Russ Abbott as well as more locally based individuals who have a special interest in the Foundation.
