MUSC Health-Orangeburg partners with Med-Trans Corporation to launch Meducare 4 helicopter flight services

MUSC Health-Orangeburg, a part of the health care system of the Medical University of South Carolina, has announced a new partnership with US air medical provider Med-Trans Corporation (Med-Trans), a Global Medical Response (GMR) company, to launch Meducare 4, a helicopter flight service designed to enhance emergency medical transport in the region. This collaboration will support the hospital's air transport needs and provide critical emergency medical flight services across Bamberg, Calhoun and Orangeburg counties.

Meducare 4, the latest addition to MUSC Health's fleet, will have its home base at MUSC Health-Orangeburg, marking the fourth helicopter put into service through MUSC Health's partnership with Med-Trans. This state-of-the-art Bell 407 helicopter is equipped to provide rapid, high-quality medical care in transit, ensuring patients receive the immediate attention they need during emergencies.

“The introduction of Meducare 4 at MUSC Health-Orangeburg represents a significant advancement in our ability to provide critical care to our community. Our partnership with Med-Trans enhances our ability to respond swiftly and efficiently to medical emergencies, ultimately saving lives and improving regional health outcomes,” said Sem Ganthier, executive director of operations at MUSC Health-Orangeburg.

The addition of Meducare 4 aligns with MUSC Health's commitment to delivering exceptional health care services and ensuring that communities in Bamberg, Calhoun and Orangeburg counties have access to timely and efficient emergency medical transport. This service will also play a vital role in facilitating patient transfers to specialised care centres when necessary, thus bridging the gap between local and advanced medical facilities.

“The launch of Meducare 4 underscores our dedication to advancing emergency medical care in this region. Our partnership with MUSC Health-Orangeburg extends critical air transport services in this area, ensuring rapid response times and exceptional medical care for patients when every second counts,” said Matt Morris, regional director at Global Medical Response.
