Cessna 208 Caravan with five-blade MT-Propeller now certified for power rating up to 950 shp

MT-Propeller has received the EASA STC 10054488 Rev. 1 for the Cessna 208 Caravan powered by the Honeywell TPE331-12JR propeller turbine with the QFJ five-blade MTV-27-1-E-C-F-R(G)/CFRL270-66 propeller.

With this revision the Cessna 208 and 208B with the five-blade MT-Propeller are now certified for a power rating up to 950shp. The revision of the FAA STC is in progress.

MT-Propeller vice president Martin Albrecht says, that the installation of the five-blade MT-Prope on the Cessna 208 features the following advantages:

- 60 % vibration reduction on aircraft fuselage

- Approximately14 kg (31 lbs) less weight than the original propeller

- Ground roll reduced by 10% approximately 50 m (164 ft)

- Climb improved by 5-8%

- Unbeatable aesthetic ramp appeal

- All models comply with the strict German Landeplatz Lärmschutz Verordnung noise regulations 2010 for unrestricted airport operations in Germany and other European countries.

Due to its smaller diameter the MT-Propeller for the Cessna 208 has more ground clearance for less blade tip erosion and FODs compared to the original propeller.

The long time proven MT-Propeller natural composite blades provide significant inside and outside noise reduction. They have no life limitation and are repairable in case of a FOD.

They also provide best vibration damping characteristics for almost vibration free propeller operation and have bonded on nickel alloy leading edges for superior erosion protection of the blades.

MT-Propeller is the world leading natural composite propeller manufacturer with 30 propeller models from two-blade to seven-blade hydraulically controlled variable pitch propellers for engines producing up to 5,000hp, and two-blade to four-blade electrically controlled variable pitch propellers for engines producing up to 350hp as well as two blade fixed pitch propellers.

The high performance, light weight and durable MT-Propellers can be used on aircraft with piston engines and propeller turbines, as well as on airships, wind tunnels or hovercraft. MT-Propellers can be developed for nearly every aircraft type from motor gliders to regional airliners.

Fulfilling the highest certifications requirements, they are also supplemental type certified on Part 25 aircraft.

MT-Propeller is the holder of over 220 STCs worldwide and the OEM supplier for more than 90% of the European aircraft industry as well as 30% of the US aircraft industry. More than 30,000 propeller systems with over 100,000 blades are in service, and 180 million fleet hours have been performed on MT-Propellers. With the longest industry TBO of 4,500 hours or six years for the five-bladed turbo prop MT-Propeller has proven the reliability of its products over the years.
