The European Union (EU) has reinstated Biobor® JF as an approved biocide. Biobor® JF, the industry standard for controlling microbes in fuel, is used in many applications such as jet fuel, diesel fuel, heating oil, and a host of other hydrocarbon fuels and lubricants. The process to obtain recertification in the EU was cost prohibitive when Hammonds first researched the process. Today, Hammonds Fuel Additives, Inc., the owners of Biobor® JF, are working along with several European agencies to secure a permanent certification throughout the EU; however, Biobor® JF is approved and available for use in all aviation applications today within the EU.

This development has particular significance to anyone consuming jet fuel in airlines, private aircraft and other aviation applications. Biobor® JF is the original biocide designed specifically for jet fuel in aircraft, and was for more than 40 years, the only product approved for microbial contamination in aviation fuel installations. In addition to being an excellent biocide, Biobor® JF has the added benefit of being a safe and ecologically friendly product for aviation fuels. Airlines can now choose a biocide with worldwide approval to kill the microbes as well as enhance the quality of fuel in their aircraft, while protecting the environment and increasing the safety of operational personnel.
