Gestair FBO attends more than 50% of corporate aircraft movements at Torrejón

Gestair FBO, the division specialized in providing ground services to passengers, crew and aircraft belonging to the Gestair Group, the aviation specialist leader in Spain and Portugal, increased significantly the number of movements of corporate aircraft in Madrid over the weekend of 21st May 2010, the weekend of the Champion League final.

The average number of movements that usually attends Gestair FBO during a normal weekend is 15. During this weekend there were 390 movements, of which more than 50% were attended by Gestair FBO at Madrid Torrejon airport.

Given the dense air traffic, AENA took several extraordinary measures to assure a smooth operation of the flights, and the attention of aircraft, passengers and crews.

Thus, the platform at Torrejon airport had been prepared to station up to 150 aircraft simultaneously - a figure especially remarkable considering that there are only 128 corporate aircraft in Spain, and taking into account that the platform at Torrejón airport has a limited capacity of 50 parking spaces in normal conditions.

Similarly, AENA extended the hours of operation of the airport during the night of Saturday 22nd May to Sunday 23rd May, and augmented the capacity of air traffic control to increase the number of operations to 15-18 movements per hour.
