Becker Avionics promotes new 406 MHz COSPAS-SARSAT emergency personal locator beacon (PLB) for aviation, marine and personal use

Becker Avionics, a leading provider of communication, navigation, surveillance and search & rescue equipment for airborne and ground applications, announces that its MR510 Personal Locator Beacon (PLB), with integrated 12-Channel GPS and dual voice communication capability (UHF or VHF), is the ideal equipment for Aviation and Marine professionals.

Brett Gardner, Director of Sales and Marketing said "Personal Locator Beacons save lives". He continued "The MR510 presents a significant safety tool for aviation and marine professionals. The new MR510 Personal Locator Beacon offers military-grade performance, with advanced features including global positioning system (GPS) technology, which make it easier and quicker for COSPAS-SARSAT satellites to pick up distress signals and relay an accurate location to rescuers. Pinpointing the location of the person in distress will quickly help search and rescue agencies to better locate individuals and save lives."

Further, the MR510 Personal Locator Beacon is also ideal equipment for outdoor adventurers, giving them access to the technology used by professional aviators and mariners.

All owners of PLBs in the U.S. and other types of 406 MHz beacons are required by law to register their PLB's with NOAA. The registration includes critical information such as the owner's name, address, telephone number and the PLB's unique identification number. If activated, the distress signal is checked against a registration database, which contains information to help locate the missing person.
