Lombard Aviation supports DragonFly's rapid growth

Lombard Aviation, part of Lombard, the asset finance provider, has funded a Beech King Air B200SE aircraft for DragonFly, the executive air charter company.

DragonFly is based at Cardiff International Airport and provides an executive charter service which caters for travellers looking for a time efficient way of travelling throughout the UK and Europe without the hassle associated with scheduled services and the use of congested roads or railways. The purchase of this aircraft highlights the rapid growth of the business.

With one Beechcraft King Air Turboprop already in the fleet, the additional aircraft allows DragonFly to double its capacity for chartered flights, allowing the company to meet the increased demand from businesses throughout the UK particularly those based in South Wales. It also increases its availability for medical transplant flights, an area in which the company has become more involved recently. The new aircraft has been refitted to a VIP seven-seat specification with the latest avionics and navigational equipment.

Howard Palser, Founder and Chief Executive, DragonFly commented: "Business for us is booming and we urgently needed this second aircraft to meet the growing number of requests flooding in. We used Lombard Aviation back in 2004, I was impressed with them so was keen to use them again this time. The purchase of our new Beech King was complicated as the aircraft was originally on the American register and needed to be transferred to the UK. Lombard funded the initial acquisition of the aircraft together with the refurbishment costs and worked closely with my legal team in the transfer of the aircraft onto the UK register. The Lombard Team headed by Tanya Pierce was very efficient in what proved to be a complex legal transaction and tailored the financial package to suit our exact needs."

Tanya Pierce, Head of Lombard Aviation, added: "We needed to have a flexible package in place with short-term finance to match DragonFly's requirements but at the same time we had to be wary of the complications of transferring the aircraft to the UK register. We've found a very workable solution and are pleased to be involved in what is such an exciting time for DragonFly".
