Fokker Services selected AlsterAero for in flight entertainment

AlsterAero has been selected by Fokker Services to deliver the AlsterAero In Flight Entertainment (IFE) system and passenger communication system for installation in an Airbus Corporate Jet completion (A319 ACJ completion). AlsterAero can offer one of the most complete and user-friendly IFE systems integrating all functionalities needed. The system encompasses entertainment, connectivity, and cabin management functionality to make passenger usage as easy as possible.

Both companies have cooperated intensively during the project to realize the customers requirements. The aircraft IFE installation will be one of the most sophisticated and flexible seen on a VIPjet to date. Due to the modular system architecture, the setup of the system is easily changeable. Even during flight, e.g. a master seat assignment can be changed through a short sequence on the crew control panel. With each PCU, the whole system throughout all compartments can be controlled – although this use can be restricted by crew control. Additional „state of the art" functionalities can be easily added at any time, i.e. when new entertainment technologies become available. Unlike conventional systems, functionality & updates are controlled via software, enabling swift future-update processes.

The IP-based system includes displays of various sizes in each compartment, PCUs for control, jack panels for the connection of headsets, USB-storage devices (MP3-player), game consoles, VCRs and other similar devices. Cordless phone chargers are installed in each compartment, while wireless LAN is distributed throughout the whole cabin.

Crew will get a touch-screen control panel and a corded phone in the cockpit to communicate with the compartments. The central system consists of an audio-video server for audio-video-on-demand, a communication server connected to the SATCOM system, Ethernet switching network and connection to outboard cameras, Airshow etc, and the aircraft's cabin management system.

Both companies envision to expand their relationship into a long term co-operation. As Fokker Services increases the number of completions, both companies intend to develop an IFE portfolio to realise even the most complex individual customer requirements to make the passenger flight experience as enjoyable as possible.
