Esterline CMC Electronics' (CMC) PilotView Electronic Flight Bags (EFB) continue to penetrate the market, with news that ABC Completions of Montreal, Quebec, has received Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) approval to install CMC's new PilotView 10.4 inch EFB,,the CMA-1410, on the CL-605 and CL-604 Challenger business jet aircraft. As part of the installation, ABC Completions has provided a custom-made telescopic articulating mount, which places the Class 2 EFB in the optimum position for comfortable viewing and use, while maintaining safe operation of all cockpit controls. ABC Completions has also completed STCs for the CMA-1410 EFB on Bombardier's Global Express family, with several installations currently in progress.
ABC Completions president Gary Nash said, "With new products like the CMA-1410 being added to its very successful PilotView CMA-1100 EFB line, CMC is proving its long-term commitment to the EFB market. The CMA-1410 is the best 10.4 inch display available today, and provides those features required of a Class 2 EFB for current and next-generation cockpits. It is truly best in class."
CMC's PilotView EFB improves productivity by enabling pre-flight planning and efficient access to up-to-date aircraft documentation, checklists and flight planning information. PilotView increases situational awareness in-flight with approach charts, en-route moving map display, and graphical real-time weather information. The PilotView EFB system is compact and lightweight, with a display/processor unit and aircraft interface unit that are easy to install in a variety of cockpits where space is at a premium.
Over 25 STCs are available for the PilotView EFB on aircraft ranging from the Gulfstream GIV and GV to the Bombardier Global Express/5000/XRS. PilotView is currently the only Class 2 EFB with factory forward-fit installation positions at aircraft OEMs. It is offered as a standard option at Dassault and ATR, and has been selected by Rockwell Collins for the Bombardier Global platform, by Embraer for the E-170/190 and Legacy/Lineage programs, by Bombardier for the CRJ700/900/1000 and by Boeing for the Next-Generation B737 and BBJ aircraft.
