Flight Support waves the chequered flag at Coventry Airport

Flight Support, Coventry Airport's new ground handling company, since the acquisition of Coventry Airport Handling Ltd, enjoyed an exceptionally busy weekend with the arrival and departure of a variety of commercial airliners and business jets headed for Silverstone, home of the British Grand Prix.

It was also the first opportunity for Flight Support to handle an Airbus A320 at Coventry, flown in by Italy's Eurofly, in readiness for the arrival of Wizz Air and its regular scheduled flights to Katowice, which commence this Friday, July 13.

Flight Support CEO Brett Turner, said:  "The Flight Support Team had an extremely busy weekend with the Grand Prix having a substantial impact on our usual weekend throughput.  I'm delighted that everything ran smoothly and the arrival of the A320 gave us a timely opportunity to trial our facilities, ensuring staff are fully prepared for the first Wizz Air A320 flight later this week."

As predicted, the Ferrari team was victorious and their jubilant management team headed home via Coventry Airport.  John Bolton, Head of Commercial, Flight Support, said:  "Coventry is the undisputed gateway for UK motorsports.  This weekend we handled chartered aircraft from all over Europe, including arrivals from Paris, Gothenburg, Amsterdam, Munich and Milan. And last weekend the Honda team flew from Coventry for the French Grand Prix. The arrival of the A320 was particularly exciting and demonstrates Coventry Airport's capability to handle large 130-seat plus jets for conferences, product launches etc."

Flight Support acquired Coventry Airport Handling Ltd in March this year, bolstering its total workforce at four stations to more than 200 and an annual turnover of £6 million.  Flight Support first began operations at Ronaldsway Airport, Isle of Man in February 2005.  It moved into Liverpool John Lennon Airport in October 2005 and then acquired Manchester Handling Ltd in May 2006.
