The relocation of the Lees Avionics - EBACE 2010 Stand 383 - design team to Farnborough in January 2009 has progressed well, with staff numbers increasing to cope with a growing workload. The production of a series of EASA STC's (supplementary type certificate) for the Garmin glass cockpit upgrades covering numerous aircraft models has been widely accepted across Europe. This is proving popular with owners wishing to upgrade their existing aircraft with the latest technology, rather than buy a new aircraft. These cost-effective STC solutions have seen Lees Avionics producing design data directly for equipment and aircraft manufacturers, rather than the traditional approach of one-off work for specific owners/operators.
The increase in hangar space at Farnborough has allowed Lees Avionics to offer a one-stop design and installation service for cockpit avionics and cabin entertainment systems, at a single location, for business jets and turbo-prop aircraft. General aviation installations continue at the company's Wycombe Air Park facility. Lees also continues to provide off-site installation capability, with several helicopter upgrades recently completed in Austria.
Lees Avionics continue to expand their design capability for special mission systems on both civil and military platforms. This includes a recent STC for a defence equipment manufacturer trialing aircraft and television camera systems on commercial helicopters. Lees' flexible and responsive approach allows rapid progression of urgent projects to match tight customer timescales.
