Press Release
Issued by Universal Avionics, an Elbit Systems company.
April 7, 2010
A new exchange program offering special trade-in credit for Universal Avionics UNS-1M operators was announced at the 53rd Annual AEA International Convention and Trade Show in Orlando this week. The Universal -1M to -1Ew Exchange Program offers triple the standard trade-in credit for existing units good toward the purchase of the company's UNS-1Ew WAAS/SBAS-FMS.
Expansion of navigation data, especially in the area of GPS approaches, has resulted in databases growing exponentially over the 17 years since the UNS-1M was first introduced. Operators who use older equipment such as the UNS-1M are plagued with continual reductions in database coverage as a result of this growth. Benefits for upgrading include the ability to load all approaches to all runways including the latest RNAV (GPS) LPV WAAS/SBAS approach types.
In addition, the replacement of the UNS-1M with the UNS-1Ew offers substantial operational capabilities for current operators. Just some of the capabilities gained with the UNS-1Ew WAAS/SBAS-FMS include:
· 13 times more memory; storage for the entire worldwide database
· Convenience of downloading data from the internet on USB memory drive or SD card
· AC 90-100A compliance
· RNAV SID and STAR procedures
· 3D approach mode
· WAAS Satellite-Based Augmentation System (SBAS) capabilities
The Universal -1M to -1Ew Exchange Program runs from April 7 through December 31, 2010. Operators interested in the program should contact a Universal Avionics Authorized Dealer for details. To locate a dealer, visit: www.uasc.com/sales.
