CTC Aviation achieves CAA authority to undertake FSTD Self Evaluation Programme Extended Qualification

CTC Aviation Services Limited (part of CTC Aviation Group plc), world leaders in the provision of airline pilot training, has joined the elite few authorised by the CAA to undertake FSTD (Flight Simulation Training Device) Self-Evaluations as part of an Extended Qualification Programme for its FSTDs.

Representatives of the CAA visited CTC’s simulator facilities at the company’s Crew Training Centre – Nursling (near Southampton, UK) to observe the team conducting a successful selfevaluation of one of CTC’s A320 Full Flight Simulators. As a result the Authority was satisfied that CTC met the requirements of JAR-FSTD A.020 and the company’s designated team is now considered eligible to undertake ‘Self-Evaluation programmes’ for their FSTDs.

“This process is not undertaken by many in the business and some organisations have chosen not to pursue the eligibility. CTC is unique in that a significant number of our training team are still operational TRI/TREs with our client airlines. This factor combined with a skilled technical department and an internally developed operational quality system means we have been able to achieve this approval in our own right” comments Captain Rob Clarke, CEO of CTC Aviation Services Limited. Captain Clarke continues “This achievement is a real recognition of the high standards adhered to across our Company. We are very proud of our team and our standards. The Approval endorses our company philosophy ‘committed to excellence’ and highlights our pledge to provide a quality product on the back of a sound quality system.”

CTC plans to expand the self evaluation programme to also include its B737-800 FFS, B737300 and B737-700 FTD’s and DA42 FNPTIIs.

This approval is recognition of CTC’s maintenance of exceptional standards across their operation whether it is simulator evaluation, pilot recruitment, ab-initio or type rating training.
