The Lee County Port Authority is pleased to announce Steven Hennigan, C.M., ACE, as its new deputy executive director of aviation and chief operating officer. In this role, he will lead the aviation division of more than 300 employees at Southwest Florida International Airport (KRSW) and Page Field (KFMY) in Fort Myers, Florida. Hennigan will be responsible for the fiscal, administrative and operational oversight of the Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting Department, Airport Police Department, aviation security and technology, contract management, maintenance, operations and safety, as well as Base Operations at Page Field, the sole FBO at KFMY.
Hennigan brings more than 20 years of aviation and leadership experience to LCPA. Most recently, he was the chief of operations for the Houston Airport System (HAS), where he managed operations at George Bush Intercontinental Airport (KIAH) and William P. Hobby Airport (KHOU), along with oversight of operational processes and procedures for both airports. Before that, Hennigan served as the assistant general manager of operations at KIAH for six years, where he worked on the planning and development of a $1.2 billion terminal redevelopment project. Prior to HAS, Hennigan spent seven years at Denver International Airport (KDEN) working as the aviation operations manager and other roles in airfield operations and the airport communications centre.
Hennigan is a certified member of the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) and is an AAAE Airport Certified Employee in the areas of security and operations. He holds a Bachelor of Science in aviation business administration from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Prescott, Arizona and has a commercial pilot rating.
The Lee County Port Authority operates Southwest Florida International Airport and Page Field in Fort Myers. No ad valorem (property) taxes are used for the operation or improvement of either airport.
