Asian Sky Group releases 2018 Q3 Asian Sky Quarterly

Hong Kong business aviation consulting firm Asian Sky Group (ASG) has released its 2018 Q3 edition of Asian Sky Quarterly, offering valuable insights on the current market conditions for pre-owned business jets and civil helicopters in the Asia-Pacific region.

“The business jet market in the third quarter of 2018 has changed dramatically from the beginning of the year,” says ASG managing director, Jeffrey Lowe. “Pessimism is slowly on the rise overall across the region but nowhere more dramatically than in China where optimism has plummeted a whopping 46%. This is a direct result of the US-China trade war and worsening economic conditions impacting sentiment in China.”

Lowe continued: “We have also witnessed an uptick in inventory values and a slowdown in sales. More aircraft are on the market this quarter, a probable result of year-end opportunists and some distressed sellers mixed in too. Regarding the slowdown in sales, we need to remember an awful lot of aircraft were sold off through the first half of the year, especially good aircraft at good prices of which there is simply less of now.”

This quarter's issue also features a commentary by Lowe on the tension between the US and China and its impact on aviation plus an analysis of the pre-owned corporate airliner market, including data on BBJs and ACJs, Bombardier's Challenger 850 and Embraer's Lineage 1000 but also takes a look at the Sukhoi and ARJ21 business jets and a possible ACJ220.

The aircraft spotlight is on Bombardier's Global 5500, 6500 and 7500 and the country profile is of Greater China. Also interviewed is Michael Hui, ASG's new consulting manager, who shares his insight on the company's growing consulting division, as well as look at ASG's upcoming Asia Pacific Training School Report.

Asian Sky Quarterly is available digitally in English and Chinese.
