October 20, 2009
Norwich-based air charter operator SaxonAir, has taken delivery of a brand new Cessna Citation Mustang. The aircraft is part of SaxonAir's ongoing expansion plans announced earlier this year. The new aircraft enables SaxonAir to offer clients extremely cost effective travel while delivering the speed and performance of a jet aircraft.
SaxonAir completed its Civil Aviation Authority proving flight on Friday 9th October and the new Mustang starts service with SaxonAir in mid October. The aircraft is equipped with Garmin G1000 Avionics, including ACAS and Pratt & Whitney PW615F engines. The range of the Citation Mustang means that, from its base at Norwich Airport, SaxonAir can fly clients non stop to destinations as far away as Prague, Nice and Barcelona. Nick Highton, Chief Pilot for SaxonAir says "The Mustang incorporates the latest Garmin Avionics package, with two PFD and one larger MFD giving the crew excellent situational awareness and further enhancing operational flight safety"
The acquisition of the Mustang means that SaxonAir become one of the foremost UK based AOC operators of the type. Tom Perry, regional sales manager for Cessna, says: "We congratulate SaxonAir on its fleet expansion. The Citation Mustang makes an excellent addition, with its comfortable cabin, fuel-efficient engines and low operating costs. Not only does it offer a great passenger experience, but it also makes sound commercial sense for operators. With well over 200 deliveries to date, the Mustang is firmly established as the benchmark entry-level business jet. It is ideal for many European destinations and we are sure it will prove popular with SaxonAir's customers."
SaxonAir Managing Director Chris Mace commented "The new Citation Mustang means we can offer clients extremely cost effective and affordable flights throughout Europe while delivering the speed, efficiency and quality business aircraft passengers expect. We are especially pleased to further expand our fleet as it means we are in a position to offer a broad portfolio of aircraft to suit a range of travel budgets. Our fleet will be enhanced even further with our planned future acquisitions."
SaxonAir's current fleet consists of a King Air 200, a brand new King Air 350, and a Hawker 400XP, in addition to the Citation Mustang, with more aircraft due to be added in the near future.
