EVASWorldwide recently announced that it is in the final negotiations to establish a dealership location in India with InterGlobe General Aviation based in New Delhi. The effort will be headed by IGGA Sales and Marketing Chief Sankalp Garg www.iggaviation.com. IGGA represents all Beechcraft products and operates a regional airline in India. Jon Parker, COO, stated, "It will be an honor working with this well established professional organization." EVAS recently celebrated its 3,500th unit in service with over 100 aircraft protected in Europe. The system protects thousands of aircraft worldwide from the threat of dense and continuous cockpit smoke.
In the U.S. EVAS has become a common and standard option on most long range aircraft. Due to its association with Net Jets USA the system is also deployed on hundreds of Citation aircraft.
Smoke in the Cockpit is not exclusive to any particular aircraft type or class. Any pilot who can't see due to smoke is at risk. EVAS allows pilots to see through smoke no matter how dense. The Flight Safety Foundation ranks these type emergencies as the third highest cause of fatalities. Smoke of unknown origin is also the #1 cause of diversions for ETOPS flights. The Air Line Pilots Association in-flight fire project report concluded that there were more than 1,100 in-flight smoke and fire incidents in a 10-month period, causing 360 emergency unscheduled landings, due to smoke, fumes, or fire on board aircraft. The numbers of smoke related emergencies aboard aircraft have continued to rise, numbering between 3 & 4 emergency diversions and landings a day within North America alone.
Most new aircraft can be ordered or fitted with EVAS smoke protection and the system will be standard on the new Gulfstream G-650. The system is very simple to install and most operators can do it "in house", making the system available and simple to all in-service aircraft.
The EVAS system can be seen and "flown" in a cockpit smoke simulator at booth #4882 here at NBAA.
