Another Elite BITD in use in Italy

The sixth Elite S612 BITD (Basic Instrument Training Device) sold in Italy in the past 10 months is now in use at the Istituto Tecnico J Calo Cadducci in Bari, in the South East Italian region of Puglia.

It is configured to represent a Cessna C172RG single piston engine aircraft but capable of being reconfigured to represent the Beech B58 twin. It features a fully enclosed cockpit and separate enclosed instructor's station and conforms to European JAR STD 4A requirements.

The three channel external visual system with RealView data base for Italy has a resolution of 15 metres, allowing students to start their initial training in VFR flight mode.

Like the other sales of Elite BITDs in Italy this one was handled by Elite's dealer in Italy, Aviatronik Spa, which was established in 1977 and is based at Samarate, near Malapensa Airport. The principal, Massimo Reballato, said: "Thanks to an agreement signed with Bari Aero Club, which co-ordinates flight activities, the Istituto Tecnico Carducci will become the focal point for simulator training for students of all flight training schools in the region.

"The Elite BITD enlarges the Istituto's training offer and guarantees the correct balance between real and simulated flight that is essential for an exciting and ever lasting progress. The BITD will also be used for the maintenance and renewal of existing PPL pilots' licences."
