FAA issues International Communications Group parts manufacturer approval

International Communications Group (ICG) today announced that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has granted the company Parts Manufacturer Approval (PMA) to produce and replace satellite communication systems on Gulfstream G150™ executive, high-speed business jets.

Through an agreement with Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation (GAC), ICG has established a fabrication inspection system conforming to FAA-approved design data. The PMA encompasses ICG's ICS-200 with Fax option and Sigma-7 products.

The ICS-200 incorporates dual Iridium® transceivers with an internal CTU, providing a stand-alone comprehensive communications system that can operate over a single coax and Iridium antenna. The system permits connections of conventional telephony devices or legacy CTU systems through either standard 2-Wire "Tip and Ring" circuits or 4-Wire audio connections. The ICS-200 offers simple operation with standard dialing conventions, and CTU features include intercom calling, call transfer, conferencing and follow-on dialing.

The Sigma-7 retractor reel also offers conventional dialing standards and requires no external power other than a telephone circuit connection. With the option of 2-Wire or 4-Wire, the Sigma-7 can be recessed into a drink rail or bulkhead. This model also features an internal magnetic stripe reader to support credit card calling as well as a special function key to provide enhanced features such as flash transfer and access to programming menus, permitting audio level adjustments, LCD brightness, etc.

"This certification validates the quality of both systems and we are pleased that our products have prevailed under the rigorous testing required for FAA approval," said Jeff Saucedo, vice president of sales and marketing for ICG. "It is always our goal at ICG to not only meet our customers' product needs, but to exceed their service expectations as well."
