nice available for retrofit on Bombardier Global and Challenger

Lufthansa Technik's successful inflight entertainment and cabin management (IFE/CMS) system nice® is now available for retrofit to customers operating Bombardier Global and Challenger business jets. At EBACE 2009 Lufthansa Bombardier Aviation Services GmbH (LBAS) signed an agreement with its major shareholder Lufhansa Technik AG to offer nice installations to its customers in Europe, Middle East, Africa and CIS.

Andrew Muirhead, Director of Lufthansa Technik's Business Unit Innovation, said: "This agreement shows how visions can be turned into realities. And this is also true for our nice® product, which has become the leading cabin management and entertainment system on many business jet types and VIP wide body aircraft. Developed at our cabin innovation center in Hamburg nice is meanwhile standard for Bombardier Challenger 300 and an option for the Bombardier Global business jets."

Andreas Kaden, Managing Director of LBAS, added: „This agreement is the fulfillment of a promise given by our shareholders, because it allows us to continuously offer latest technology products and services to our customers. Aircraft returned to service after a D-check performed by LBAS will not only look like new, but with nice installed it will also feel like new for the principal. Together with our strong partners we are offering the shortest downtimes and deliver highest quality at the same time."

The nice retrofit is part of a package offered by LBAS during D-checks on Bombardier Challenger and Global aircraft. The upgrade package also includes a total cabin refurbishment and complete repainting of the aircraft. A Bombardier Challenger 604 is due for a D-check 96 month after entry into service and a Global 8 C-check is due after 10 years.
