EASA approves cost-saving WEPPS for Dash8-400 aircraft

Dash8-400 aircraft operators can now enjoy the cost-cutting benefits of STG Aerospace's innovative technology following EASA approval for the company's Wireless Emergency Primary Power System (WEPPS).

WEPPS integrates wireless monitoring, real-time MEL diagnostics, and solid-state operation for managing and powering emergency lighting systems.

Because it is 'fit-for-life', WEPPS doesn't need to be replaced or maintained. By eliminating the emergency lighting system's entire maintenance schedule, Dash8-400 operators could save up to $20,000 every year on each aircraft in their fleet.

The EASA approval comes under a Minor Change Design Approval and follows other recent WEPPS STCs from EASA for aircraft including all BAe 146 models.

Peter Stokes, Chief Executive, STG Aerospace said: "WEPPS is a real 'win-win' for our customers in the current economic climate.  WEPPS virtually eliminates laborious and repetitive maintenance tasks on a critical safety system while also delivering exceptional reliability. It is consistent with STG's mission to reduce the cost of operating aircraft and to make flying safer.

"WEPPS brings together numerous proven technologies in an innovative package, for which STG Aerospace has many patents approved and pending."
