Issued by Aeros Flight Training.
June 7, 2017
Leading UK-based modular flight training school, Aeros Flight Training, has reappointed former airline captain and Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) examiner, Captain Paul Freestone, as head of training. The move sees Freestone take up the post having previously retired from the position in March 2016.
Freestone's association with Aeros began in April 2013 when he was appointed as head of training for the first time. Following his retirement last year, he continued to be involved with the company as its standards/compliance manager. In his new role he will be based at the company's headquarters at Coventry Airport.
With vast experience across both the commercial and flight training sectors of the aviation industry, Freestone brings a wealth of knowledge to the position. Having completed his commercial pilot training in 1991, Freestone has held managerial and instructor positions at Air Atlantique, Cabair and Oxford Aviation Training (now CAE Oxford Aviation Academy).
He returned to the cockpit in 2005, flying the Short 360 for Emerald Airways and the Jetstream 41 for Eastern Airways. Since his retirement from commercial aviation in 2010, Freestone has subsequently returned to flight training through various roles at schools across the Midlands.
Speaking about taking up the role once again, Freestone commented: “I am delighted to have been reappointed as head of training at Aeros. In the last few years the company has had real success in placing its students with commercial airlines and I look forward to helping the company continue to offer high-quality flight training.”
Nick Dunn, managing director at Aeros, added: “Paul brings a huge amount of aviation experience to this role, which is invaluable to Aeros. He takes a great interest in the progress of our students both during and after their training, and I am excited to have him on board as we look to build on our recent successes.”
