Nexus announced today that it has achieved the challenging and coveted IS-BAO Stage 3 certification after exposing its operations to the scrutiny of an independent, third-party auditor over a period of three days. Nexus'' achievement makes it the only commercial operator in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to receive the IS-BAO Stage 3 certification and a member of a very exclusive group of elite operators across the globe.
“This is one of the most significant milestones in our young company's history,” said Abdullah Al-Sayed, Founder and chairman of Nexus, “because it cannot be achieved by one or two employees, but rather, it measures your system-wide commitment to a sustainable safety management system, the presence of a positive safety culture and the fact that your safety management activities are fully integrated into your business. This is an acknowledgement of all of our people, processes and practices and I am enormously proud.”
The International Standard for Business Aircraft Operations (IS-BAO), developed by the International Business Aviation Council (IBAC), is a recommended code of best practices designed to help flight departments worldwide achieve high levels of safety and professionalism. IS-BAO Stage 3 is the final and the highest level in a five-year performance-based assessment, specifically recognizing compliance with the highest IS-BAO standards and practices following an in-depth audit and review of Nexus' safety management system.
Carl Flynn, vice president of safety and quality for Nexus said, “This is an important and prestigious recognition for us and I applaud the effort of all the Nexus team members who contributed to making this a reality. We have been working toward this for several years and it is extremely satisfying to achieve it and be able to serve our customers as an IS-BAO Stage 3 operator.” Flynn has been instrumental in the development of the current approach to safety and has helped raise awareness across the global business. “Although 700 operators across 35 nations have embraced the IS-BAO standard, only a tiny fraction have made it to Stage 3, which is a great accomplishment for Nexus. And, our journey is only beginning, as we will continue to take safety to the highest level across our organization.”
