November 28, 2008
AMAC Aerospace Switzerland AG began providing high quality maintenance, refurbishment and completion services for corporate and private aircraft in mid-October 2008. Construction and commissioning of its Basel-Mulhouse Airport facility was completed on schedule at the end of September 2008. The specialized company is ready to accept maintenance work as of 11th November 2008.
First construction phase complete
The initial construction phase, which began at the end of March 2008, involved building a double hangar with floorspace of 4,200 m2, workshops and technical offices totalling 1,800 m2 and the company's own 20,000 m2 tarmac area. In the second phase of construction up to mid-2009, a wide-body hangar with a floorspace of around 8,400 m2 will be built, along with further workshops and offices.
Refurbishment and completion work on an Airbus 320 belonging to a client from the Middle East began in October 2008, and a number of firm orders and letters of intent have already been signed for more completion and maintenance work.
On track
AMAC Aerospace's initial development phase is going according to plan. The new AMAC maintenance facility fulfils all equipment and safety requirements and has been audited and certified as EASA Part 145 maintenance facility by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), effective as of 5th November 2008.
AMAC Aerospace has increased its headcount over the past five months to more than 100 employees. By the end of 2009 the SWISS company, founded in 2007, will employ more than 250 highly qualified engineers and mechanics.
Heinz Köhli, CEO of AMAC Aerospace Switzerland AG, is very happy that work has begun on schedule: "We set ourselves an ambitious goal a year ago, and we are pleased that we have been now been able to start work as planned. This has only been possible thanks to the extraordinary commitment of our employees, good cooperation with the airport and the authorities, and the great work done by the planning and construction companies involved."
