Airtask Group Limited is pleased to announce that it has acquired Hebridean Air Services Limited. Hebridean Air Services operates scheduled air services on behalf of the Argyll and Bute Council from Oban Airport servicing the islands of Coll, Collonsay, Islay and Tiree. It also provides air charter services.
The group has purchased the shareholding from Mr George Cormack, the founder of Hebridean Air Services and long term supplier of engineering services to Airtask Group through Islander Aircraft Services Limited. The group shall continue its working relationship with Islander Aircraft Services who will support the Britten Norman Islander fleet utilised on the air services.
Airtask Group operates similar services on behalf of the Shetland Island Council and expects to be able to offer efficiency gains and greater resilience for the PSO services.
Group MD Julie Simper stated "2016 has been a strong year for us and this acquisition marks another significant step forward, further expanding our capabilities. Operations and fleet expansion has included;
- flying a major research campaign in India with the Atmospheric Research Aircraft during the monsoon season on behalf of NERC and the Met Office under contract to BAE Systems,
- having one of our busiest years so far with our customers, Marine Scotland, MMO,Borders Agency and QinetiQ,
- introducing a new aircraft type, the DA42 MPP, to our fleet, which now stands at 10 aircraft of four different types.
- commencing operations in both Diego Garcia and Kenya together with forming new working relationships with 3SDL and the FCO.
