Jersey Aircraft Registry appoints technical services provider

The aviation consultancy company, AVISA Aviation Safety Systems Ltd, has been appointed to work with the Jersey Aircraft Registry (JAR) when it launches in 2015. The creation of the JAR, which will target high-value private and corporate aircraft, was agreed by the States in July this year.

AVISA was awarded the contract following a competitive tender process, to assist with the provision of regulatory airworthiness surveys, aircraft inspections, continuing airworthiness technical advice and flight operations advice to the JAR.

Minister for Economic Development, Senator Lyndon Farnham, said: “I am very pleased to see the appointment of such an experienced aviation consultancy as technical services provider to the JAR. With its neutral fiscal regime, reliable infrastructure and highly respected level of financial, legal and fiduciary expertise, Jersey is ideally placed to provide a world- class aircraft registry, and this is an important step in delivering that proposal.”

Phil Stuckle, managing director of AVISA added “We are delighted to be working with Jersey on this exciting initiative, and we look forward to supporting the development of the JAR as a safe, professional and efficient option for the registration of high-value aircraft.”

When it becomes operational next year, the JAR will allow for the registration of private and corporate aircraft and aircraft mortgages. Uniquely, the JAR will also offer clients the option of registering commercial aircraft engine mortgages. A nationality registration prefix, 'ZJ-', has also been secured for the Island.
