Aircell, the world's leading provider of airborne communications, announces that a U.S.-based Fortune 100 company will be the first to install Aircell Broadband services in the business aviation market. The installation will take place before the end of 2008 at Savannah Air Center, Savannah, GA, aboard the customer's Bombardier Global-series aircraft. Aircell also announced the rates & services plans available for the company's exclusive new broadband service for business aviation.
"Aircell Broadband is a must- have technology - it will let passengers use their own laptops and smartphones at full mobile broadband speeds, just like they do on the ground," said Bob Seidel, senior vice president and general manager, Jet Aviation, which operates the aircraft on behalf of the customer. "We've used the Aircell Broadband system in flight and it's very impressive. That level of performance coupled with Aircell's new 'unlimited' monthly service plans is unmatched, and we look forward to getting it installed," he concluded.
Powered by the Aircell Network, the Aircell Broadband system allows passengers and crews to use their own Wi-Fi enabled devices, such as laptops, smartphones and PDAs, to surf the Web, send and receive e-mail with attachments, Instant Message, access their corporate VPN and much more - all at full mobile broadband speeds in flight. The Aircell Network operates on the latest mobile wireless technology, utilizing an advanced network of 92 ground stations and Aircell's exclusive air-to-ground spectrum.
