Honeywell to provide Gulfstream's newest aircraft with latest in-flight connectivity technologies

Honeywell Aerospace will offer a full suite of satellite communication solutions to Gulfstream's new G500 and G600 aircraft, including the AMT-700 antenna that provides improved voice and data connectivity in the cabin and cockpit. Passengers will be able to make voice calls and connect to Wi-Fi to stay productive while airborne, and pilots can experience clearer communications with air traffic controllers on the ground.

Honeywell also supplies the G500 and G600 with an Inmarsat high-speed data solution, the MCS-7120 system, which gives passengers the freedom to stay connected while traveling at 40,000 feet. In addition, the system supports current and upcoming mandated safety regulations such as Future Air Navigation System (FANS) 1/A+, controller pilot data link communications (CPDLC) and Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Contract (ADS-C), enabling pilots to fly preferred routing, saving time and fuel, and increasing safety.

In addition to satellite communication solutions, the aircraft will be the first to feature Honeywell's new touchscreen technology, which is fully integrated with cockpit and aircraft systems, and removes a significant number of aircraft controllers, making it more user-friendly for pilots. The new aircraft will also be outfitted with a suite of Honeywell electrical products including SmartView Synthetic Vision System and a cockpit display of traffic information, and mechanical technology such as the HGT400(G) Auxiliary Power Unit, environmental control system and cabin pressure control system.

“Honeywell has worked with Gulfstream to bring the latest technological developments to the company's fleet for years,” said Mike Beazley, vice president of global sales, business and general aviation, Honeywell Aerospace. “This relationship is evidenced by the fact that we are now the sole satellite communications provider on the G500 and G600 aircraft. We are working together to ensure that everyone who steps onto a Gulfstream aircraft has the most advanced and comfortable experience possible.”

Honeywell's AMT-700 antenna will be standard on all new G500 and G600 aircraft and can access Inmarsat's SwiftBroadband, a satellite communications service that provides consistent global coverage. The AMT-700 is a high-gain antenna that provides maximum signal strength to Gulfstream's new series of aircraft and is also one of the smallest, most lightweight and best-performing mechanically steered antennas in the market. The AMT-700 is an easy retrofit option for operators and can be a drop-in replacement for over 550 current antenna models.
