The development of the EV-55 airplane has reached another key milestone – in November 2014 Evektor applied to the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) for the EV-55 type certification under CS-23 in the Normal category.
"It's an exceptional moment for all Evektor employees and great news for aircraft operators looking for modern, high productivity, multipurpose utility aircraft. The project has moved from the phase of development to the phase of the certification, which includes flight and ground testing, the results of which shall be a certified airplane for which many customers have been patiently waiting. I would like to thank everyone who has contributed to the development of this exceptional airplane", said chief designer of the EV-55, Petr Štěrba.
Construction of the second flying prototype (S / N 003) of the EV-55, which will be involved in certification testing later this year, is currently being carried out. The prototype of the EV-55 (S / N 001) has conducted more than 250 test flights involving over 220 hours of flight time. It has also successfully completed development testing of the flutter, verification of stalling characteristics and performance tests during take-off and landing.
All tests carried out on the first prototype (S / N 001) confirm the structural qualities of the EV-55 and the high design standard. Certification tests of the second flying prototype (S / N 003), a fully compliant type version of the EV-55, are likewise expected to be carried out successfully. Evektor expects the certification process to be completed in the first quarter of year 2017.
