During the past year, the management of ASI Group, a MEDEX Global Group company and leading provider of global risk-management services, has witnessed a significant acceleration in aviation security awareness among clients across the globe. Over the past year, ASI has handled a record number of requests for FliteBriefs, aircraft guards, secure transportation and training.
Much of this growth stems from an increase in the frequency of trips to emerging markets, particularly in Africa and Latin America. In many cases, corporate flight departments are scheduling trips to locations for the very first time and have turned to ASI to support their local security needs.
"Even seven years after 9/11 we believe corporations are as diligent as ever in keeping their aircraft and personnel safe," said Charlie LeBlanc, president of ASI Group. "As businesses explore new global markets, leaders understand the magnitude of security in regard to their bottom line."
Aircraft Security Management. ASI analysts assess airport security conditions worldwide and work with clients to determine the appropriate level of caution needed. In some cases, locations and situations warrant the use of aircraft security guards. ASI operations specialists coordinate and monitor all physical security services 24/7/365.
FliteBrief. Designed specifically for flight crews and their passengers, FliteBriefs are in-depth evaluations of each destination on an itinerary. FliteBriefs outline potential risks and threats to the aircraft, crewmembers and passengers and make recommendations to limit their exposure. An analyst prepares each FliteBrief separately and automatically enters the client's itinerary into ASI's 24/7 monitoring database, allowing ASI to alert the crew, in-flight if necessary, of incidents that may impact the trip.
For one ASI client, this precise scenario occurred in the immediate aftermath of the Sichuan earthquake in China on May 12, 2008. Analysts contacted the crew, which was en route to this location, advised them of the incident, gave recommendations and outlined what to expect upon arrival. ASI stayed in contact with the client during the remainder of the trip, providing updates and assurances. ASI expects to set a production record of 3,800 FlitetBriefs in 2008.
Secure Transportation. In high-threat destinations, the risks may dictate the use of secure transportation. ASI offers a variety of options, including reliable guides, security-trained drivers, armored cars and follow vehicles for an additional layer of protection.
Training. ASI trains corporate crewmembers, schedulers and dispatchers, business passengers and executives to be security savvy and ready to respond to unsafe conditions and current threats in their destination. ASI training courses focus on proactive security methodologies for keeping the business aircraft safe and secure - wherever it flies. ASI works with flight departments to help revise and/or write security manuals, protocols and procedures, which are then incorporated into the training curriculum.
Recently, three Fortune 500 flight departments attended ASI's Corporate Aviation Security Training program. As a direct result of the synergies generated from the crewmembers, flight attendants, schedulers, dispatchers and ground crew who attended, each department revised its own security manual and procedures.
You can visit ASI at booth #4529 during NBAA's Annual Meeting and Convention, October 6-8, 2008 in Orlando, FL. Employees will give away the company's popular Threat Map, a color-coded world map that showcases five potential threat levels, and a mouse pad, which highlights ASI's security ratings on one side and MEDEX's medical ratings on the other.
