ScanTech acquired by Sun-Air of Scandinavia

The Danish international airline company, Sun-Air of Scandinavia A/S, has acquired ScanTech. With the acquisition Sun-Air will return to Sindal where the company operated the domestic route from Sindal to Copenhagen from 1996 to 1998.

ScanTech specializes in service, maintenance and modification of Beechcraft King Air models and is the only facility that services Beechjets in Denmark. The line of business at ScanTech is to be continued, but the activities will expand as all the Sun-Air/Joinjet Beechjets will be serviced at ScanTech in the future.

All employees at ScanTech will continue their present occupation as the organization structure is maintained. However, the coming expansion of the service and maintenance demands an increase of four to five technicians in the near future. ScanTech is both a FAA and EASA part 145

authorized maintenance facility. The future maintenance and modification work will continue on ScanTech's Part 145 authorization.

Sun-Air 's headquarters are situated in Billund, but the company also has facilities in Aarhus, Thisted and now Sindal. These facilities render service, maintenance and parts to the Sun-Air (Dornier and Jetstream) and JoinJet fleets (Dornier, Hawker and Beechjet).

Sun-Air started its activities in 1978 trading aircraft. Since then the company has expanded its activities significantly within the aviation business. In 1996 Sun-Air became the first British Airways franchise partner outside the UK, and now Sun-Air operates regional/international routes from Aalborg, Billund and Aarhus to destinations in the northern part of Europe.

“Through a close cooperation between Sun-Air and ScanTech we expect to generate additional expertise and synergy as well as new possibilities for both companies,” ceo Niels Sundberg comments on the acquisition of ScanTech.

ScanTech has until now been owned and managed by four persons: Tom Hassing, Mads Nørgaard Jensen, Jens Nørgaard Jensen and Evan Grønhøj, each with a solid experience in the aircraft maintenance business. Tom Hassing continues as manager on a daily basis with reference to Niels Sundberg who is the new managing director.

“The acquisition of ScanTech should result in a more even flow of activities at the facility in Sindal. In addition to the regular Beechcraft custo- mers ScanTech will from now on also service Sun-Air's own business jet fleet” Niels Sundberg explains.

Including the employees from ScanTech the total number of employees at Sun-Air is now 230. Niels Sundberg expects the total turnover to increase with approx. 30 mio DKK. Last years total turnover reached 536 mio DKK.
