Dornier 228 NG flies with new five-blade propeller

The Dornier 228 NG (New Generation) aircraft of RUAG Aerospace recently completed successfully a five-day test flight program with the new five-blade propeller. The test flights were conducted by the MT-Propeller company in Straubing, by order of RUAG Aerospace.

The new propeller of the MT-Propeller company is clearly quieter and lighter than others, it is in addition extremely low in vibration and less susceptible to corrosion.

"First flights with the new five-blade propeller show an increase in performance and a clear noise reduction", underlines Wolfgang Neumann, managing director of RUAG Aerospace Services in Oberpfaffenhofen, and he adds: "Even older Dornier 228 models can be retrofitted with the new propeller."

The comprehensive Dornier 228 NG performance flights will be finalized by November 2008. Then, detailed information will be available in regard to enhancement of flight characteristics and increase in performance.
