Honeywell Aerospace has signed an undisclosed Middle East-based Boeing Business Jet operator as its first Auxiliary Power Unit Maintenance Plan customer.

Honeywell's Auxiliary Power Unit Maintenance Plan (AMP) is an aftermarket warranty program for Boeing Business Jets (BBJs). It simplifies maintenance planning by providing access to fixed rate servicing, repair and spares for Honeywell's 131-9B auxiliary power unit (APU) — standard on all Boeing 737NG aircraft including those in Boeing Business Jet (BBJ) configuration. The APU is a small turbine engine located in the tailcone of the aircraft that provides power for the cabin and cockpit, as well as for main engine startup.

“With its high proportion of BBJ operators looking for hassle-free, predictable aftermarket support, the Middle East is an important market for AMP,” said Raghed Talih, director — Middle East, Turkey and North Africa, Business and General Aviation, Honeywell Aerospace. “AMP helps to fill the gap in the aftermarket that bizliner operators face, as these aircraft can sit between the maintenance services offered by commercial air transport service centers and those from regular business jet providers.”

BBJ operators enrolled in the program are also able to extend the resale value of their aircraft by transferring AMP to a new owner at the point of sale. AMP's extended coverage includes complete on-condition unscheduled heavy maintenance costs, such as inspection and lifecycle-limited parts and labor, special AMP rates for temporary rental units from Honeywell's APU bank, and access to all major Honeywell service centers.

AMP is one of a number of servicing and maintenance programs from Honeywell designed to provide operators with peace of mind and predictability for operators. Other programs include Honeywell's Mechanical Protection Plan for cabin control systems on selected Gulfstream and Pilatus platforms, the Honeywell Avionics Protection Plan covering avionics and satellite connectivity systems, and the Maintenance Service Plan — one of the most widely used engine and APU maintenance programs in business aviation.
