Loganair appoints new director of charter services

Loganair, Scotland's airline, has today announced the appointment of Jan Emery as the company's director of charter services.

Emery joins Flybe franchise partner Loganair from Aberdeen International Airport, where she spent more than four years working as route development and marketing manager.

The newly-created post will see Emery charged with enhancing the airline's existing charter work in the oil and gas industry and identifying further opportunities in other key markets.

This will initially include an extensive research and development phase targeting the existing marketplace to allow the airline to develop an even greater understanding of current and future trends in order to position Loganair as a leading provider within the charter industry.

A graduate from University College London (UCL) with a degree in English, Emery moved to America where she gained her diploma in communications, advertising and marketing from St John's University in New York.

Leicester-born Emery's marketing career took off across the Atlantic when she landed a much-coveted position with New York-based communications giant, J Walter Thompson.

A return to the UK saw her take up senior marketing roles initially in Leicester with Moss Advertising and then Hilton Taylor Partnership before being appointed as head of business development with London-based advertising agency, Grey.

Emery then moved to the north east of Scotland in 2002 to take up the role of business development and marketing manager at Space Solutions before joining Aberdeen International Airport in 2009.

Loganair chief executive Stewart Adams said of the appointment: “Jan brings with her a unique wealth of skills in a wide range of areas including business development, communications, advertising and marketing.

“Her role as route development and marketing manager at Aberdeen International Airport helped her build up a tremendous knowledge of the aviation industry and cultivate an impressive network of contacts at regional, national and international levels.

“Our charter operations, especially in the oil and gas industry, have proved very successful to date. With the appointment of Jan I'm confident we can continue to make even greater progress in the wider market and I look forward to working with her.”

Loganair last week reported a pre-tax profit of £6.06m for the year ended March 31 2014 - up from £4.36m the previous year, a 39 per cent rise. This was accompanied by an increase in turnover from £86.9m to £87.5m.

Loganair and its passengers continue to benefit from the franchise agreement in place with Flybe since 2009, and the code share agreement the company continues to have with British Airways.

These arrangements enable passengers to make convenient flight connections between the most remote areas of the Highlands and Islands to main destinations in the UK, Europe and worldwide.
